This year’s German Façade Award for ventilated curtain wall façades was presented in Frankfurt on October 24.
The Stadthalle Göttingen was also nominated in the category “Building in Existing Contexts” and won the coveted award in this category.
Sustainability on several levels
As part of the project, m&r Manufaktur was commissioned to produce new tiles and refurbish existing ones. In order to preserve the striking ceramic façade as an object of identification, as many existing tiles as possible were to be retained. As experts in three-dimensional architectural ceramics and glaze development, we supplied new glazes, a new geometry and professional processing for over 6,000 existing tiles. A new geometric relief has been added to the design. m&r Manufaktur developed two new glaze colors in close cooperation with the architects Inga Soll and Heiko Sasse, who were in charge of the project. Both the old façade tiles and the new stoneware objects are made of 100% natural material.
We would like to congratulate sasse architekten BDA on their outstanding planning and design work on the façade renovation and redesign – and we are also very proud of this award, thank them for the good cooperation and hope for further successful projects together.
